Alan Hart, Associate Professor at Guilford Technical Community College, was using the school’s print shop to print the Geology 111 lab manual. Students could purchase it in the school bookstore bound by slip ties and for a bit more they could get it in a binder. Alan wanted a more professional-looking and student-friendly manual but didn’t want to charge students any more then they were already paying. Ultimately Van-Griner laid out the entire manual in color, designing it with a consistent style and orientation, supplementing their images with some of our own, and using a spiral binding. The instructors and students love the new lab manual and it costs them less than they had been paying.
